About me
Life as I knew it changed in 2014. I felt anxious and depressed at times without knowing why, or how to cope with how I could feel.
I resisted seeing a counsellor when my employer suggested it, for a few months. I didn’t want to speak to a stranger about my private life. I didn’t know if I could trust them. Most of all, I was scared I’d be judged for not being ‘normal enough’.
But the counsellor gave me space in which I could talk, really talk, without feeling judged, and they were able to explain a little about what might be going on for me. It was the first time I’d felt truly heard and validated.
I got to understand myself and my life better in longer term therapy, which enabled me to feel more confident, make different decisions and notice changes in the world around me. Pretty powerful stuff, and it’s what led me to train as a counsellor myself.
I'm down to earth, genuine, and sprinkle my work with a sense of humour. While I'm a trained professional, I don't take an expert role and I won’t tell you what to do. We’ll work together at a pace that suits you.
