Got a question?
What happens first?
If you'd like to work with me, drop me an email or get in touch using the contact form on the 'contact me' page. I'll then email you back.
Sometimes clients like to speak with me before booking in. If that's what you'd like to do, let me know when you email me. These calls are no longer than 15 minutes, free and there's no obligation to work with me after that. In these calls we can discuss what kind of things you'd like to explore in therapy, as well as discussing practicalities like when and how you would like to have sessions.
What happens in the first session?
Confidentiality is a big part of counselling and part of our first session is for me to explain the limits to confidentiality I have as a counsellor. It can be a scary business, opening up to someone you don't know. It's important to me that you feel as comfortable as possible.
There will be space in this session for us to talk about what's going on for you, and to begin working together. It's also an opportunity for you to ask any questions you might have about the way we will work together. It might be that you've had counselling before and we can discuss what you've found helpful - or not so helpful, and what you're looking for from our sessions.
How much are sessions?
Sessions are £60, payable in advance to secure your time, by bank transfer.
I offer a discounted rate of £40 for counselling students.
When and where are sessions?
Face to face sessions take place in Hadley Community Centre, 30 High Street, Telford TF1 5NL, in a quiet and confidential room, at a mutually agreed time. If you have mobility issues, I need to mention here that the room is at the top of a small flight of stairs
It may be that you'd prefer a telephone, online, or WhatsApp session, which of course gives you the benefit of being able to do it wherever you feel most comfortable.
If you're driving, there's plenty of free parking to the side and to the rear of the community centre. If you'd like, I can meet you in the car park - when you book in, I'll give you my work mobile number so you can drop me a text.
If you're using public transport, there's a nearby bus stop and again, if you need directions, just drop me a text.
Sometimes the centre is closed to the public when clients arrive. I will meet you at the door, to take you up to the room.
What happens when I arrive at the centre?
Yes. If you have private medical insurance, just let me know when you first get in touch.
Depending on your provider, there will be information that I will ask you for, such as your pre-authorisation number and membership number, before we get started.
